Due:
1. Pick a topic that interests
you – Only one student in your class will have that topic.
2. I will give you the date you
will present—topics that are related to a certain country will generally go
together on the same day. We will begin
the presentations after we finish Chapter 4.
3. Prepare one visual for the
topic to show the class. It could be a large
poster with pictures that everyone can see, an object, a display, a section of
a video, food samples, etc. You may also
email me with attachments photos you need and I will have you use my LCD
projector. My email address is
dboyd@sjnrcs.org.
4. Prepare a presentation of 3-5 minutes in length. You cannot exceed that limit. You must put all your research in your own words. You can not read from an Encarta article or a book. You are making a speech that you have practiced so that you can deliver it with ease, lifting up your head as you speak. You may use notes or cards while speaking. The best presentation will be one that is “talked.” Make your speech interesting, so that your classmates will learn about your topic with ease. If you decide to have any samples for your visual component, please have enough for everyone—however, most students only want a very small amount. Prepare your sample ahead of time so that it does not consume a great deal of time distributing it.
5. You will be graded on your research (50% of the credit), the oral presentation (25%) and the visual component (25%). Late grade procedures will take effect as described in the Student Handbook.
6. You do not have to turn in
any written papers to me.
